17 Habits of Self-Made Millionaires by Philip Andrew

Assalamualaikum and good morning(?), i guess.

Haha.

It's 2.05 am here, and i cant sleep sebab siang tadi dah tidur lama jadi untuk manfaatkan masa yang ada ni, apa salahnya kalau kita update blog, ye tak?

Pagi tadi saje la godek godek play books, nak cari bahan bacaan.

So terjumpa la buku berjudul 17 Habits of Self-Made Millionaires by Philip Andrew. Tried to find the cover tapi tak jumpa la pulak hmm but that's okay, the content yang penting.

In this post, I like to re-quote, and rewrite benda yang aku rasa bermanfaat untuk aku, dan orang lain juga Insya Allah.

quotes, habits, and routine image

"Daily habits dictate how successful or unsuccessful you will be in life"

-- from the book Change Your Habits, Change Your Life

Habits are the cause of wealth, poverty, happiness, sadness, stress, good relationships, bad relationships, good health or bad health. The good news is that all habits can be changed!

Gitu.

"People who became wealthy practice many of the same daily habits, such as reading consistently, exercising, sleeping at least seven hours a night, and carving out time to think or brainstorm."

"Millionaires also make important choices about who they spend their time with, what goals they pursue, and who they turn to for advice."

1. They read consistently

Educated > Entertained.             book and sea image

88% of rich people "devote 30 minutes or more each day to self-education or self-improvement reading" and that "most did not read for entertainment"

The rich read to acquire or maintain knowledge. They tended to read three types of books: biographies of successful people, self-help @ personal development books, and history books.

Awal-awal ni lagi aku dah tersentap, sebab sepanjang aku membesar, yes aku memang suka membaca. But most of the time, aku baca novel cintan cintun, komik and things like that. Aku ada la rasa menyesal sikit sebab terbayang alangkah bagusnya kalau duit yang aku laburkan beli buku buku fiksyen macam tu, aku beli buku-buku berilmiah.

Tapi, nak kata semua buku yang aku baca tak berilmiah, tak ada la macam tu. Ada je benda baru yang aku belajar setiap kali habis baca buku, regardless benda tu kecil or besar. I find that it's hard to read something yang non fiction, i mean, otak kau tak tepu ke nak brain ayat-ayat panjang, tu tak kira lagi istilah istilah pelik? Haha.

Slowly but surely, aku akan ubah gaya cara membaca aku. Mungkin aku tak akan tinggalkan semua fiksyen, tapi aku kena tambah fiksyen dalam list bacaan supaya barulah seimbang dunia akhirat. Eh.

2. They exercise

76% of the rich aerobically exercise 30 minutes or more every day. Aerobic exercise includes anything cardio-focused, such as running, jogging, walking, or biking. Cardio is not only good for the body, but it's good for the brain. It grows the neurons in the brain.

Exercise also increases the production of glucose. Glucose is brain fuel. The more fuel you feed your brain, the more it grows and the smarter you become.

Ceh. Dalam pepatah arab kata, al aqlussalim, fil jismussalim. Aqal yang cerdas dari badan yang cerdas.

3. They hang out with other successful people

You are only as successful as those you frequently associate with. The rich are always on the lookout for individuals who are goal-oriented, optimistic, enthusiastic, and who have an overall positive mental outlook.

It's equally important to avoid negative people and influences, as that negative, destructive criticism will derail you from pursuing success.

[HR Bukhari No 1959]

4. They volunteer

To surround themselves with good people, many self-made millionaires turn to charity. This is why so many wealthy people volunteer for charitable organizations, civic groups, or trade groups. It helps them expand their network of other success-minded people.

72% volunteered five hours or more every month.

Jadi jangan risau takut takut kita menjadi miskin. Percayalah, rezeki itu dibawah kuasa Allah.

5. They practice dream-setting

Dream-setting involves scripting your ideal future life. In this process, you define your future life, the future you, by imagining all your dreams coming true, then you put it to paper in five hundred to a thousand words.

61% of the self-made millionaires reported practicing this planning strategy.

Bak kata omputeh, if we fail to plan, we plan to fail. Maka pentingnya kita ada matlamat supaya kita tahu hala tuju kita, bukan sekadar go with the flow. Bila aku baca this part rasa lega sikit la sebab aku ada draft post yang lebih kurang macam where do I see myself in 10 years from now, something like that la. Haha.

6. They pursue their own goals

Pursuing your own dreams and goals creates the greatest long-term happiness and results in the greatest accumulation of wealth. While too many people make the mistake of chasing someone else's dream - such as their parents' - rich people define their own goals and pursue them relentlessly and passionately.

Passion makes work fun. Passion gives you the energy, persistence, and focuse needed to overcome failures, mistakes, and rejection.

This part really hits me hard. Buat aku muhasabah diri sekejap la. Sebab inilah realiti yang rata-rata orang hadapi. Bila mana ibubapa mengharapkan anaknya menjadi engineer la, doctor la, pilot la. Tapi dalam cerita It's Okay To Not Be Okay, tak ingat episod mana, tapi dalam last episode ada jugak part ni.

"Moon Gang Tae belongs to Moon Gang Tae. You belong to yourself, and I belong to myself."

We choose, and decide our own path. Yes, kita boleh ambil advice dari orang lain, tapi at the end of the day, kita sendiri yang bertanggungjawab atas diri kita.

7. They sleep at least seven hours a night

Sleep is critical to success. 89% of the self-made millionaires reported sleeping 7 or more hours every night. Sleep accomplishes so many things behind the scenes, including memory formation.

Kalau 7 jam tu termasuk tidur waktu siang okay tak? Lately ni sleeping schedule dah tak betul haha.

8. They get up early

50% of the rich woke up at least 3 hours before their workday actually began. It's a strategy to deal with inevitable daily distruptions. Those distruptions have a psychological effect on us. They can drip into our subconscious and eventually form the belief that we have no control over our life.

Getting up at 5 in the morning to tackle the top three things you want to accomplish in your day allows you to regains control of your life. It gives you a sense of confidence that you, indeed, direct your life.

Kalau zaman sekolah and prep dulu, memang kalau bangun awal around 4-5 pagi, hari tu akan rasa lain macam.

9. They have multiple sources of income

Self-made millionaires do not rely on one singular source of income. They develop multiple streams. 65% had at least three streams of income that they created prior to making their first million dollars. Examples of these additional streams are real-estate rentals, stock market investments, and part-ownership in a side business.

If we can do more, do more. Bukanlah maksud aku yang mengatakan ekonomi Malaysia ni sangat teruk sampaikan orang kena ada 2, 3 side jobs. Tapi apa yang aku ingin highlightkan is kita kena ready for the worst. How to survive kalau begitu?

10. They find and check in with mentors

Finding a mentor puts you on the fast track to wealth accumulation. Success mentors do more than simply influence your life in some positive way. They regularly and actively participate in your success by teaching you what to do and what not to do. They share with you valuable life lessons they learned either from their own mentors or from the school of hard knocks.

Go check it out!

11. They help others succeed

Helping other success-minded people move forward in achieving their goals and dreams helps you succeed. No one realizes success without a team of other success-minded people. The best way to create your team is to offer help to other success-minded people first.

You dont want to give help to anyone and everyone, but focus on helping only those who are pursuing success, are optimistic, goal-oriented, positive, and uplifting.

The more we give, the more we get.

12. They're positive

Long term success is only possible when you have a positive mental outlook. In Corley research, positivity was a hallmark of all the self-made millionaires. The problem for most people is that they're unaware of their thoughts, positive or negative.

If you stop to listen to your thoughts, to be aware of them, you'd find most of them are negative. But you only realize you are having these negative thoughts when you force yourself to be aware of them. Awareness is the key.

And i couldnt agree more on this part.

13. They dont follow the herd

We so desire to blend in, to acclimate to society, to be a part of the herd, that we will do almost anything to avoid standing out in a crowd. Yet, failure to separate yourself from the herd is why most people never achieve success. Successful people create their own herd and then pull others into it.

Jangan takut untuk menjadi diri sendiri. Jangan takut untuk merasa ganjil.

14. They practice good etiquette

Self-made millionaires have mastered certain rules of etiquette principles you have to master if you want to be a success. These including thank-you notes, acknowledging important life events such as a wedding or a birthday, eating politely and using table manners, and dressing properly for various social events.

15. They dedicate 15~30 minutes a day to just thinking

Thinking is key to their success. The rich tend to think in isolation, in the mornings, and for at least 15 minutes every day. They spent time every day brainstorming with themselves about numerous things, like careers, finances, health and charity.

They ask questions such as:

What can I do to make more money?

Does my job make me happy?

Am I exercising enough?

What other charities can I get involved in?

And that's why aku rasa benda ni penting, lagi-lagi di permulaan hari supaya kita reflect and improve ourselves.

16. They seek feedback

Fear of criticism is the reason we do not seek feedback from others. But feedback is essential to learn what is working and what isnt. Feedback helps you understand if you are on the right track. Feedback criticism, good or bad, is a crucial element for learning and growth.

Additionally it allows you to change course and experiment with a new career or business. Feedback provides you with the information you will need in order to succeed in any venture.

Pentingnya feedback ni sebab kita tak boleh menilai diri kita dengan mata kita sendiri. Orang lain nampak kita berbeza dari kita nampak diri kita sendiri.

17. They never give up

Self-made millionaires are persistent. They never quit on their dream. They would rather go down with the ship than quite. In Corley study, more than one-fourth of the participants said they failed at least once in their business - and picked themselves right back up.

If you want to be successful in life, you have to persist in the face of seemingly unending adversity.

Jangan takut untuk gagal. Tindakan selepas gagal tu yang lagi penting, which is not give up and bangkit semula. Kalau Thomas Edison give up, tak tau bila kita dapat invent bulb. Pengalaman mematangkan kita.

Macam pokok. As they grow up, pokok akan lebih kena ribut angin, hujan lebat, panas terik matahari. But itulah yang membuatkan pokok-pokok tu makin kuat.

deep, happy, and hope image

Wah terpanjang pulak entry kali ni haha.

Moga bermanfaat buat semua!

Jumpa di lain hari :)
